Another fantastic meet, Great Effort!!!

Most of you are starting to get the idea of how to pace on the 200's now.  For some of you it looks like your race plan is coming together as we get close to the end of the season.  Over the next few weeks up to the North Eastern's keep training insane or your times will remain the same!

A special well done to those swimmers that were successful in achieving North Eastern times for June and Yorkshire times for October.

Some of you who were close to NER times may need to use the course converter below to see if your times from the weekend are under the qualifying standards when converted from short to long.

Yorkshire times for October are now out and can be printed using the link below.

This is one of the last opportunities to grab those North Eastern times, hopefully you will all add a few more to your list.  Swimmers are to report to Tom over the weekend.

Sat & Sun
Am Sessions
Arrive: 10:00am
Warm Up: 10:30am
Start: 11:00am

Finals Sessions: TBC

The draft programme can be viewed by clicking the following link:

Good Luck to everyone who is racing this weekend.  Remember get in the race from the start and don't play catch up later on.  Make sure those turns are less than a second and accelerate into the finish.

Make sure you pick up the effort on every 50m.  If the length you are swimming feels the same as the one you have swum before you will be slowing down, if you feel like you are putting in more effort on every length then your splits will be the same or faster which is what you want.

All swimmers who are racing over the weekend can have Sunday nights session off with a mark.

'In 2004, I won a bronze.  This is a silver.  Maybe in 2012, it will be a gold.  Slowly, slowly.'  (Eliud Kipchoge - Kenyan Athlete, Olympic Silver medalist, Beijing 2008)

Another weekend of excellent racing. Keep up the hard work and the training will pay off.

With the North Eastern's coming up (our major competition) make sure every turn, every start, every finish is practiced like you would do in a race to give yourself a chance of knocking those seconds off and moving up the results sheet to the top.  Try and attend all sessions between now and the North Eastern's to give yourself the best chance of doing well.

Being your best...
"Being your best is not so much about overcoming the barriers other people place in front of you as it is about overcoming the barriers we place in front of ourselves.  It has nothing to do with how many times you win or lose.  It has no relation to where you finish in a race or whether you break world records.  But it does have everything to do with having the vision to dream, the courage to recover from adversity and the determination never to be shifted from your goals".  (Kieren Perkins, 1500m Freestyle Olympic Champion 1992, 1996)

Good Luck to everyone who is racing this weekend.  Remember get in the race from the start, don't play catch up later on, less than a second on the turns and accelerate into the finish.  On 100m races go out like it is a 50m race and hold on when coming back on the second 50m.  If you have done all the sessions your fitness will be high and you should be able to do this no problem.

Remember to pick up the effort on every 50m.  If the length feels the same as the one you have swum before you will be slowing down, if you feel like you are putting in more effort on the length then your time will be the same as the length before which is what you want.
Stand on the block, look down the lane and Go for GOLD!, Show everyone what Regional is made of.

Training Changes
Friday 11th April - 1 hour for Sports Aid Swimmers.  All other squad members normal session.
